Please describe your favorite hiking trails after answering the poll.  If you have one that is not on the list, please give it an honorable mention.

Several times I have tried to hike Wild Horse Canyon. It is located just a few miles west of Goblin Valley in Utah. However, each time I had gone there, Search and Rescue had it closed down to search for hikers. This would deter a normal person from wanting to hike the area. However, it just intensified my desire. This last October I took my 15 year old daughter and some of her friends to Goblin Valley and was determined to make it into Wild Horse Canyon. We did make it there and struggled through some of the slots. One slot had a boulder blocking the way which made us do some free climbing to get past the boulder. Unfortunately for us, the whole hike (and climb) through Wild Horse would take about five hours. We only had two hours, so we barely scratched the surface. But it was still thrilling to see the beauty of the slots and confront the challenge of the climb.

Has anyone ever done the Narrows in Utah? That would be my dream to someday hike the Narrows.

Dave,

I went to the Narrows when I was 13 years old.  It was the end of the Summer and the water levels were low, safe and swimable.  We kept stopping at different spots to jump off the rocks into the water.  That whole day of hiking was like one long Mountain Dew commercial.  I was with my friend Wick and a dude we used to call "Buzzard" and some other scouts.

Now what I really want to do is climb Hadleys Peak in the Uhintas.  The valley on the other side of the peak is like Eden. Although maybe a little colder.  I still remember the names of the lakes they have there.  Mcfeeder lake was the big one.

It’s hard to have a favorite hiking trail.  I like the variations of different locations and terrain.  The people you hike with can make for an enjoyable and memorable experience, it also gives you a different prospective of your hike.

Does that make any sense?

A pretty cool experience I had was hiking to the summit of Mount Bierstadt in Colorado.  There must have been 50 people on the summit and it was like a party.  A lot of sharing stories and snacks.  Outdoorsy people are the nicest kind of humans around.

This is a tough call on favorite !! Most of my time is saddle time rather than boot time. I've been to Moab five times and love it more each time, but my folks moved to Arizona a few years back and I'm eager to explore this winter/spring. I find that most of my hiking is back to my bike after I've overestimated my riding abilities.
