Detroit artist gets his material from city's past

Detroit artist gets his material from city's pastTim Burke is a resident artist on Heidelberg street. He creates sculptured art and time pieces from material he scraps from old land mark buildings and industrial machine shops. He has a fine collection of finished work for sale in his Heidelberg house/studio. Some of his pieces have some what of a historic value.

You may recognize the copper flashing from the old Doctors Hospital used to make original costume broaches. He has made clocks from gears and other industrial machinery. Ceramic tiles from Detroit's lost ruins are brought to life. Just ask and he can tell the story of how he creates his art.

Tim's place is part of the Heidelberg Project , made famous by Tyree Guyton and his controversial expression of art on the inner east side. A part of Detroit almost forgotten until its inception. These days the project is run by a board of directors. They have a play area, picnic area and even a very clean porta-poddy making it a favorite stop for cruising cyclists. Please stop and say hi to my friend Tim. He is originally from here in the southwest side but now calls the east side his home. We still love you Tim.
